The Parish Grouping of Northern Butler County

Lent, A Season of Transformation

The celebration of the season of Lent is an ancient Christian practice. For forty days leading up to the Paschal Triduum, we strive to free ourselves from all
kinds of clutter—material and
spiritual—in order to focus on God and turn back to Him with our whole hearts. If this “turning back” is genuine, it will be a reorientation, a transformation. It will bring about a real change in our lives. God has never wanted our empty devotions
or blind rule-following. He desires and requires so much more. God wants our very hearts to be turned with love toward Him and toward
one another.

Father Chuck Baptiste will lead our Parish Grouping in this
Scripture study.  Father Chuck grew up in West Sunbury and his parents and family are active members at Saint Alphonsus Parish.  Please consider joining other members of our Parish Grouping as we take time during Lent as we focus on God and turn back to Him with ourwhole hearts. This Scripture study will take place in the social hall at Saint Louis Church in West Sunbury. Our study will begin Thursday evening, March 5th at 7:00 p.m. The study will also meet on March 12th, 19th and 26th.Please RSVP by March 2nd bycalling the Parish Office at724-794-2880.

Father Adam and St. Peter parishioner Dan Duffalo are thrilled to announce a brand new initiative for the men of our Parish Grouping.

The Season of Lent is coming up and there has been an interest among several men in our Parish Grouping to have a faith-based discussion group to meet in an informal and friendly atmosphere to discuss spiritual topics
pertaining to our shared Christian Faith. For Lent we have decided to make
the “Temptations of Christ” our theme.

Please join us as we gather to talk about the deep and profound meaning of our Savior’s temptations and what they mean for us today. We will meet at the Slippery Rock Newman Center in the St. Anthony Room from
9:00 — 10:00 am on Saturday, March 7TH, Saturday, March 14TH, and
Saturday March 28TH. We will provide free coffee, donuts, and refreshments.

Please consider joining this men’s faith group as we seek to understand more our Christian identity. There is no need to RSVP simply show up!
